SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Sacramento Kings have hired rookie center DeMarcus Cousins' high school coach as an assistant. Coach Paul Westphal announced the hiring of Otis Hughley on Thursday.

Hughley coached at LeFlore High School in Mobile, Ala., for seven years. Cousins played there under Hughley before going to Kentucky for one year. The Kings drafted him fifth overall last month.

Hughley has previously served as a college assistant at Wright State, Liberty and Southern. He also has coached for the league's NBA China program and worked at Pete Newell's "Big Man Camp."

Sounds like a good idea to me, Cousins must listen to the guy.

Pretty cool to see a guy go from the High School ranks, to the NBA.

I was going to say who? Then I read the article....I'm not sure if a high school can transition to the pros..I'm assuming the only reason he was brought in was for Cousins......

I don't think this is just about Cousins. I hope a big man coach was really for Whiteside as well, considering he is also a project big-man. I like that we have Truck Robinson on the bench, maybe he can spark something in Cousins as well.
