DeMarcus Cousins sealed the Sacramento Kings' 79-78 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on a hook shot with 2.9 seconds left in the final game of the night at COX Pavilion in the 2010 NBA Summer League on the campus of UNLV.
Cousins paced the Kings with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Dionte Christmas and Donte Greene each added 13. Wayne Ellington had a game-high 24 points for the Timberwolves while Lazar Hayward chipped in 14.
Cousins had 12 points and eight rebounds in the first half. Lazar Haywood, Deon Thompson and Wayne Ellington each had eight points for Minnesota.
The Kings maintained their lead throughout the third, finishing the quarter up three 53-50. The Timberwolves rallied, grabbing a six-point lead with 2:45 left in the game before the Kings went on a 9-2 run to finish the game.
The Kings (3-0) will try to stay unbeaten on Friday at 3:00 p.m. PT against the Toronto Raptors. The Timberwovles (0-2) will return to action on Friday at 7:00 p.m. PT against the Memphis Grizzlies.

To Kings assistant coach Pete Carril, Cousins is something he has never seen before.
“I’ve been in the pros 13 years now … he’s the first and perhaps authentic … only original, different type of player that I’ve seen,” Carril said before the broadcast of tonight’s game on NBA TV. “There’s certain things you can’t teach and he does all of them.”
