In a weird and morbid way I'm hoping this finds it's way to a "special guest star" episode of The First 48 (one of me and the Mrs.'s favs).

New reports seem to indicate that his ex-wife may be a suspect. They were searching her house and focusing in on her BBQ.

Was she trying to cook him? Maybe next time she should study Hitler a little closer....

I've heard that Memphis style BBQ is the best. I think I'll be planning any sort of BBQ eating vacation to KC and Texas.

BTW- am I the only one that dreams of taking an eating vacation throughout the US? Lobster in Maine, Chowder in Boston, Crab cakes in Baltimore, Salmon in Seattle, BBQ in KC, Memphis & Texas, Pizza & dogs in Chicago & NY (I've done the Chicago version on a business trip a couple of years ago), gumbo in Nawlins, Fried Chicken in Kentucky, Peach Cobbler in Georgia, Brats in Wisconsin...anyone else?

Whenever I travel out of state for work I try and hit up the cuisine or restaurant the area is known for. Did BBQ three times while in Texas this summer, and ate seafood every night while working in Seattle last year. Didn't do Brats in Wisconsin but did eat alot of soft serve ice cream. They are suppose to have some of the best there. It was nothing special in my opinion. Did Primanti's in Pittsburgh last summer and had one of their special burgers. Not that good. Cole slaw instead of lettuce along with fries up in the burger. One thing I'm upset I didn't try was Whataburger in Texas. Didn't realize it was popular there until I saw it on Friday Night Lights and then researched it after my trip. I tried to get jobs in Boston and Chicago the last two years but they fell through. I would love to get to either of those two cities for some good eating and sports watching.

if i did that id want to meet someones mom who cooked that stuff. generally restaurant food is terrible in places that are known for it, they cater to the tourist who doesn't know Hyattburger and are overpriced.

When I went to Chicago a couple of years ago it was for a conference that was at the hotel next to the airport. As soon as I got in I took the subway all the way into downtown (about an hour) just so I could sink my teeth into a pizza. I went to Pizzeria Uno and they did not dissapoint. I got a personal sized pan Spinacholi (sp?) with sausage added. Good Lord. Pizza heaven. The next night I was determined to find a good Chicago Dog and ended up at a place called Mr. Meat (insert gay joke here) and their dogs were mediocre. I then went to a show at 2nd City which is a must if you are ever in Chicago. It was like the most perfect episode of SNL ever acted out right in front of you. Hillarious. On my way out of town I stopped by a hotdog thingy in the airport and it was FANTASTIC! Best dog ever!!! I love me some crazy, neon green relish.

If I had to do it over I'd definately skip Mr. Meat and hit up one of the steak houses downtown. They are supposed to be some of the best in the country. Supposedly Harry Carey's place is one of the best. I went in for a late night drink and it was a far classier joint than I pictured it being.

I was wondering why this thread had this many replies. I love the investigators focusing on the BBQ to food themed vacations segue, nicely done thread hijak.

Oklahoma Joe's in KC is the best BBQ I've ever had.
